Eyeglass Recycling

Sunrise East Lions Club supports Lions Eyeglass Recycling which provide free optical services to needy people in third world countries. We also support the NWL Foundation Hearing Aid Bank. You may drop off your used and unwanted eyeglasses and hearing aids at these locations:

These business have graciously provided space free of charge to the Lions. If you are a business owner, and would like to assist the Lions in their recycling program, you may email the webmaster or leave a message in the guestbook.

Our next activity is White Cane Days. This is a fund raiser for the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing. This organization is support by Lions Clubs all over Washington and North Idaho. Our club will be at Northwest Seed and Pet located at 2422 E Sprague in Spokane, WA. Stop by and pick up a white cane to help this great cause or better yet email us and volunteer to help.

White Cane Days raises money for Patient Care Grants and other sight outreach to children and adults who need help to regain their sight or maintain their independence.

CLUB ACTIVITES:

Purchase eyeglasses and hearing aids for needy.
Provide financial support toward cataract surgery.
Participate in Lions Diabetes Awareness program for prevention of blindness.
Annual contributions to White Cane Days.
Annual contributions to LCIF and CARE.
Annual contributions to Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Club accepts donations of used eyeglasses and hearing aids.

In past years, members have sorted and shiped over 10,000 pairs of used eyeglasses. We ship an average of 700-800 pairs of glasses to Northwest Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Center each month.

FUND RAISING:

Provide manpower for two demolition derbies at fair.
Solicit for White Cane days.
Highway Rest Stop Coffee Service
This year we raised approximately $1500.00 that will be spent entirely on the projects listed here.
