District 19E Spring Conference will be held in Post Falls, ID April 25-27, 2008. All Lions are invited to attend this gathering of Lions in Eastern Washington State, North Idaho and BC, Canada.


EVENTS CALENDAR

April 17, 2008 -- Regular Meeting, 7:00AM. We sorted glasses and may have to do so at May 1 Meeting
May 1, 2008 -- Regular Meeting, 7:00 AM Hear about activities from Spring Conference and Plan for White Cane and the Annual Convention
May 2, 2008 -- White Cane Day at Northwest Seed & Pet on East Sprague in Spokane. Help us give the gift of sight!
May 15, 2008 -- Regular Meeting, 7:00AM. We will sort eyeglasses for recycling this morning


Membership in a Lions Club is by invitation only. We are always looking for civic minded citizens who are willing to donate some time and effort toward making our communities better places in which we live. If you are interested in learning more about Lions Clubs in Spokane please call John Wilson at 509-466-8850 or come to a meeting and we will welcome you.

Sunrise East Lions Club supports Lions Eyeglass Recycling which provide free optical services to needy people in third world countries. We also support the NWL Foundation Hearing Aid Bank. You may drop off your used and unwanted eyeglasses and hearing aids at these locations:

These business have graciously provided space free of charge to the Lions. If you are a business owner, and would like to assist the Lions in their recycling program, you may email the webmaster or leave a message in the guestbook.

CLUB ACTIVITES:
Purchase eyeglasses and hearing aids for needy.
Provide financial support toward cataract surgery.
Participate in Lions Diabetes Awareness program for prevention of blindness.
Annual contributions to White Cane Days.
Annual contributions to LCIF and CARE.
Annual contributions to Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Club accepts donations of used eyeglasses and hearing aids.

In past years, members have sorted and shiped over 10,000 pairs of used eyeglasses. We ship an average of 700-800 pairs of glasses to Northwest Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Center each month.
FUND RAISING:
Provide manpower for two demolition derbies at fair.
Solicit for White Cane days.
Highway Rest Stop Coffee Service
This year we raised approximately $1500.00 that will be spent enirely on the projects listed here.
